Description
The booth is made out of 3.500 plain books which consist of recycled paper. The back and the side walls are printed PVC canvas.
Communication objective
With the unique slogan "Einzelstücke", meaning Individual Works, the design department at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts presented their annual student book projects of 18 unique books at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2009. The concept during the creative development process was to integrate the book itself into the fair, and to make the fair, the medium for display. This premise was that the design be used as a table, and become the most relevant physical element at the trade fair. The central component of the exhibition booth was 3,500 blank books. Each of the 16 different cover motifs were part of the original logo "Einzelstücke". When stacked, they resulted in a bar for the visitors to stand at. Individually black dyed copies repeated the theme "Einzelstücke" graphically as well. The books served as ideal means of communication, were free of charge, and distributed with a folding poster to each of the visitors. The clearing away process of these books, through this constant communication, caused the exhibition booth to visually change. The project was accompanied throughout the process and into the days of the fair, with a blog at www.buchmesse09.de
